Russia expects 2019 gross grain harvest at 120 mln tns
MOSCOW, Sep 30 (PRIME) -- Russia’s gross grain harvest is expected at 120 million tonnes in 2019, according to an economic and social forecast for 2020-2022 sent by the government to the State Duma, parliament’s lower chamber, and seen by PRIME on Monday.
“The gross grain harvest is expected at 120 million tonnes in 2019, (6% more than in 2018) because of a larger sown area and good soil and weather conditions in spring. Grain exports will amount to about 46 million tonnes, 16.4% less than in 2018, when carryover reserves from record the 2017 bumper harvest were sold,” the document read.
The Agriculture Ministry forecasts Russia’s grain harvest in 2019 at 118 million tonnes and the wheat harvest at 78 million tonnes.
